Voice Acting Lessons

I’m a Vocal Coach, Acting Coach and professional Voice Actor/Singer based in Phoenix, AZ and I’m currently accepting applicants for Free Trial Lessons to see if my studio would be a good fit for you to reach your VO goals. I can help you develop a strong, expressive voice and teach you to use your skills in Commercials, Voice Over, Radio, TV, Film, Internet Projects, and Video Game projects.

I’ve worked with voice actors, singers and stage/film actors of all ages for many years and I’d like to help you develop your voice and explore your hobby. I’ve been featured on MTV and I was a Quarter-Finalist for the Grammy Award for Educator of the Year. I’ve done a variety of podcast, TV, and short film projects and I’d be happy to help you grow as a Voice Actor. I have students who range in experience from total beginners to seasoned professionals with a decade or more in the industry. No matter your ability level, I can help you develop your skills and explore your passion for Voice Acting.

Many of my students are complete amateurs, and book their first paying Voice Over work as a result of our coaching. I also work with full-time professional voice actors who have been featured in AAA Video Games such as Call of Duty, Netflix Series such as Squid Game, lead roles on Nickelodeon, and featured roles Hulu, Amazon, and MTV series.

I’d love to meet you and see if my studio would be a good fit for you.

Virtual Lessons are offered over Zoom, I can help you set up the technology if you haven’t done an online lesson before.

Sign-up for a Free First Lesson!

The first lesson is a chance for us to get to know each other, go over studio policies, and see if my studio is the best place for you to achieve your goals. The first lesson is offered for free so you can decide if I’m the right teacher for you and so I can decide if I’d like to invite you into my studio.

If you’d like to schedule an initial free trial lesson, fill out the contact form above.

Feel free to explore the practice resources and scripts below!

I hope we’ll get a chance to work together, I look forward to hearing from you soon!

How Do I Prepare for my First Voice Acting Lesson?

Find a few scripts/monologues from your favorite shows, movies, or games to practice reading out-loud. Check out: www.topherkeene.com/monologues

Download Zoom and make sure your camera and microphone are working.
A laptop or a phone/tablet with built-in camera/microphone are completely fine for the first lesson. If you have a quality microphone already that’s great, if not, an inexpensive beginner mic I recommend is the Blue Yeti: [Amazon Link]

If you already have professional audio software (referred to as a ‘DAW’) that’s great, if not, Download Audacity, a free, basic audio editing software: [Link]

If you have a chance, try recording one of your practice scripts into Audacity.
If you want some advanced homework, watch this video and attempt to use the Noise Reduction feature: [Noise Reduction Video]

If you’re interested in Character-Work (Shows/Games/Animation), create an account on CastingCallClubs and start looking around at auditions and listening to other people’s performances, you can learn a lot here! [Link]
